The Schools of Competitive Sailing of the Marina Gouvia Sailing Club

The Marina Gouvia Sailing Club, aiming at developing and disseminating of Sailing, invests in a new school, which will offer its graduates and anyone else who wants to participate, the chance to enrich their knowledge on competitive sailing.

The Competitive Sailing School is designed for sailors who wants to go one step further. For this reason, courses will include theory and mainly training-practice with modern vessels in groups of 9 persons maximum and an experienced instructor.

The vessels that will be used are the following: GRE 144 - RUSH, GRE 1235 - Cruella De Ville, GRE 1291 - Anubis, and GRE 4997- Striggla.

The subjects of the competitive sailing school include:

Aerodynamics | Rig tunning | Sail trim | Reversals and understeer | Symmetric Spinnaker Trim | Gennaker Trim | Racing Regulations | Crew Management | Starts | Turning Points | Upwind tactics | Downwind tactics

The daily program begins with a short briefing on the training that will follows at sea for practice. Each group - which will consist of 9 persons maximum - will be accompanied by an instructor at all times. These courses are an important chance for sailors to enrich their knowledge, under the supervision of an experienced instructor, and to cover any gaps they may have. Whether this relates to steering or crew communication or hoisting - taking down the spinnaker or even boat set up - trimming, this school will make your better, faster sailors.

Interested parties may declare their intention to participate on the website of the club, but due to limited availability reservations will be made on a first-come first-served basis.
